In accordance with the Operating Standards for Ohio Educational Agencies Serving Children with Disabilities, Madison Local Schools participates in an ongoing effort to identify, locate and evaluate all children with disabilities who reside in the district.

Madison Local Schools are responsible for the identification of children with disabilities from ages 3 to 22. Children eligible for special education services include those with handicaps that adversely affect their educational performance to the extent that they need specially designed instruction.

Who’s IDEA is This? A Parent's Guide to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004

The Ohio Department of Education soon will make changes in the way it monitors, enforces and publicizes Ohio school districts’ compliance with the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, which ensures a free, appropriate public education to students with disabilities.
