Athletic Department
Welcome to Madison Mohawks Athletics!
My name is Matt McKinney and I am proud to be the athletic director at Madison Local Schools. I grew up in Columbus Grove, OH, and attended Bath Local Schools in Lima, OH where I participated in football, basketball, and baseball.
After graduating from Bath in 2008, I attended Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY to play baseball. After 2 years, I transferred to Bluffton University in Bluffton, OH where I finished my baseball career. I graduated from Bluffton in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. I was lucky enough to work at the high school I attended for 6 years to start my teaching career. From there, my wife and I moved to Cincinnati and I worked at Western Brown for 2 years. While teaching there, I started and finished my master's degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. In the spring of 2020, I was hired to teach Money Management and social studies electives at Madison.
Athletically, I have coached 10 years of varsity football, 2 years of junior high basketball, and 6 years as a JV and Varsity assistant baseball coach. In the spring of 2023, I was hired as the athletic director at Madison Local Schools. I am looking forward to working with administrators, coaches, teachers, athletes, and community members to make Madison athletics an enjoyable and transformative experience for our student-athletes.
Go Mohawks!
