Madison Arts Are Alive And Well!
We may be stuck at home, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the arts! Our Madison performing arts leaders are finding creative ways to keep their students (and fellow staff members!) performing in real time for a live virtual audience. You will want to mark your calendars for these two fun options that showcase our Madison talent on the stage and behind the mic. Be sure to read below and tune into both!
“10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine”
If you are finding it challenging to keep yourself occupied while stuck at home in the face of a global pandemic, then you should definitely mark your calendar to tune into a YouTube Premier video on Saturday, May 16 at 7:30 pm when our own Madison Thespians will show us how to stay busy in “10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine,” written by Don Zolidis.
Under the leadership of Director Morgan Cornett and Technical Director Joel Brown, this 12-person cast is rising above the challenges of a mandatory Stay-at-Home order by presenting a one-night-only new kind of online theatre experience.
There will also be a virtual lobby where you can post comments to the cast after the show! Check back here on the MadisonArts.org page for the YouTube link a few days before the show, and turn on a YouTube notification to remind you 30 minutes before the video goes live. Then fix your popcorn and gather the family to watch with the entire Madison community at 7:30 pm on Saturday May 16.
Look for teasers and previews in the week leading up to the show on the MadisonArts Facebook page here and Twitter & Instagram using MadisonArts1.
“The Masked Singer of Madison”
Currently, eleven Madison staff members are leading by example when it comes to promoting community engagement in the Madison Local School District through an innovative singing contest called the “Mystery Singers of Madison.”
Choir director Andrea Sheff has organized this contest that kicked off on April 23. Each week, mystery staff members submit a video of themselves singing while wearing disguises and viewers at home vote for their favorite singer. The two singers with the least amount of votes are eliminated and have their identities revealed each week. New episodes are posted on Thursdays at 11:00 am on the “Mystery Singers of Madison” Facebook page. The last episode will be on June 4.
Students and parents, please click here to tune in to their Facebook page to support teachers and other Madison staff members in the season premiere of The Masked Singer of Madison. Mark your calendar, set an alarm, but remember to tune in every Thursday at 11 am to watch these masked mystery singers in action and vote for your favorite performer!
