MHS Art Teacher nominated for 2022 Ohio Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to MHS Art Teacher Ms. Chelsea Higgins, who has been nominated as an exemplary teacher to the Ohio 2022 Teacher of the Year (OTOY). This nomination will recognize Ms. Higgins on the regional level as Teacher of the Year for State Board of Education District 3.
“Ms. Higgins is an excellent teacher, inside and outside of the classroom,” says Principal Andrew Huber. “She is quick to support students and staff in any way she can. Along with her teaching responsibilities, she is also a Varsity Volleyball Coach, heads our Yearbook, and has supported additional community events, like prom. Ms. Higgins is well deserving to be nominated for 2022 Teacher of the Year, as she is a true Mohawk!”
The nomination for the award is completely anonymous, even to Ms. Higgins herself.
“This is a huge deal for me, and after it being one of the hardest years I have ever worked, it feels amazing to be recognized,” Ms. Higgins states. “I spend a lot of time and dedication, whether it be in the Fine Arts department, Volleyball program, or in general. A lot of heart goes into my teaching -- I am so fortunate to be a Mohawk, where I absolutely love my job!”
