Madison Local Schools Updates Mission Statement to Reflect Needs of Students
The Madison Local School District's Mission is to equip and inspire students
to pursue their individual purpose in life.
The world is changing at a rapid pace. As the world around us evolves, so, too, do the needs of our students. At Madison Local School District, we pride ourselves on our ability to provide high-quality academic programs that meet the needs and goals of our students. Many of you once walked the halls of these schools, so you understand the district’s unwavering commitment to preparing our students – then and now – for a successful future.
In order to ensure our current offerings meet students’ needs, we recently assembled multiple input sessions within the community and school district to assess what is going well and where we can improve. These sessions included parents, students, teachers, administrators, and other community members.
Through these input sessions, we discovered our students seek more life skills beyond academics and the chance to participate in experiential opportunities. They want education that focuses on reasoning, and they crave more challenging work that develops their ability to think. Students and parents identified these skills as critical to long-term success, no matter what path a student may choose post-graduation.
These insights have molded our mission statement, which defines why the district exists – what good do we provide, and for whom? Today’s students want more; it is our responsibility to provide it for them. Therefore, the Madison Local Schools mission is:
To equip and inspire students to pursue their individual purpose in life.
This mission encompasses many ideas. It means we will prepare our students for the specifics of graduation, certainly, but also for the real world. We will expand our offerings from the classroom to experiences, from bookwork to hands-on opportunities. This mission will guide our planning and academic offerings, and ensure our students are getting exactly what they need to succeed post-graduation, no matter what path they may choose.
