Congratulations Madison High School Class of 2020! "Best Graduation Ever"

Posted on: May 29, 2020
Graduation

May 22, 2020 was a day to remember as an entire community came together to help Madison High School celebrate 115 graduating seniors. Staff members arrived early in the morning to set up for the graduation event at Land of Illusion. Commencement would begin at 5:30 pm with a strategic plan and safety measures in place and by 9 pm another class of Mohawks were officially graduates of Madison High School.

While not every senior was able to attend, it was an amazing event. In order to comply with the two vehicle per student limit, some families rented large vans so lots of family members could attend the momentous occasion. Staff members were there to help park and arrange the cars in alphabetical order and upon arrival every senior was given a mask and sign with his or her name on one side and the radio station used to pre-record music and speeches on the other. At last, a small group of staff members was ready to disburse diplomas as the cars drove through the Land of Illusions trail with confetti cannons, signs, cowbells, and air horns, until stopping long enough for each student to step out of the vehicle to receive his or her well-deserved recognition.

With diplomas in hand, many photo ops, and pride in the air, families then exited the park. As one parent noted, “Graduation was different this year,” but overall “nicely done,” and families are grateful to teachers, staff, and administration for “showing such enthusiasm during the whole event for each and every kid.”

It may have been the longest graduation on record, but clearly seniors and their families will always remember this special day as a truly historical event that was celebrated in their honor. “All we were missing was some food, and it would have been a graduation/tailgate party!” said one parent, as another said, “What a great way to do it,” and as still another, “This was by far the best graduation ever. This momma is proud of all these kiddos and proud to be a Mohawk.”

The looks on these young faces says it all in the attached slideshow! Congratulations to the Class of 2020!
